Notify cops before leaving home for long CNY holidays, residents told

MIRI: The city folk going for the long Chinese New Year holidays must ensure that they take the necessary precautions before leaving their houses.

These include notifying their absence to the nearest police station, advises Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

This year, the Lunar New Year celebration falls on Feb 16 and 17 – during weekends.

“It is important for the residents to report to the police about them leaving for the long holidays, so that we can arrange for scheduled patrols around their neighbourhoods,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Lim also advised those who would be travelling by car to be extra careful.

For those needing assistance and more information, they can contact Miri Central police station at 085-433222.
